Wardrobe Angel Christmas Gift Cards now available!

I love this time of year: that moment when November slips into December, the Christmas decorations go up and songs on the radio all start to echo of sleigh bells. That warm, fuzzy Christmas feeling can sometimes turn to cold, hard dread when you realise you haven’t done all of your Christmas shopping. Let me make it easy for you – give the gift of a great wardrobe this Christmas! I have fab gift vouchers for your lucky partner/spouse/friend/colleague to open and there’s room inside for you to write your message to them as well.     Giving the gift of a great wardrobe means helping a loved one with their style, helping them shop more successfully and how to arrange and declutter their wardrobe so you never have to hear those fateful words “I have nothing to wear” ever again!   To buy a gift card please email me on info@wardrobeangel.co.uk or give me a ring on...

Rail against the machine

According to the Christmas Clock there are only 32 days until the big day. Have you got relatives staying? Getting the emergency chairs out of storage? Stocking the fridge and decking the halls? If you are turning your various spare rooms into guest rooms, your guests will need somewhere to store their clothes for the duration and I’m not talking about leaving said clothes to languish in the suitcases they were transported in. You need a decent rail. I’ve seen a lot of clothing rails in my five years as The Wardrobe Angel : good, bad and ugly. My first rail was a cheapie Argos rail which twisted under the weight of eBay items – very bad. After successive rails from Argos which all ended in collapse and a brief flirtation with an ugly rail from a dress agency, my friend lent me her Ikea rail when she moved house. Then my friend wanted her rail back and I was back to square one. Until Daniel from Pristine Clothing Care got in touch and told me about the new selection of rails on offer on his website. The rail above is the Heavy Duty Chrome with Shelves which has been sitting in my office with no sign of collapse for a good few months now. It’s got room enough for present storage on the shelf at top, plenty of hanging space for clothes and can be wheeled around from room to room depending on where your guests are staying. It may cost more than a cheapie Argos rail but it will go the distance from one Christmas to the next. Stay...
The fashion trend cycle is slowing down

The fashion trend cycle is slowing down

The fashion trend cycle is slowing down? No way! WAY! And let me tell you why….each week I get a text from my husband reading “I got you a Stylist magazine.” He works in Leeds and picks one up for me at the train station.  I love this magazine – no body shaming, diet-faddery in here. Just great articles, topical topics with a strong feminist slant, and a cracking fashion section headed up by Alex Fullerton. Her coverage of the international fashion shows each season (Paris, Milan, London and New York) is witty, concise and realistic. Realistic isn’t a word you often hear bandied around with fashion in the same sentence, is it? But in the SCOOP section at the front of the magazine, Alex is just that.   In her last 2 reports from the catwalks she noted that “trends are moving more slowly” , “the turnover of trends is slowing down” and “fashion’s new mood is trend-less and ageless.”   That sound you just heard was a collective sigh of relief. A trend-less fashion? Hello brave new world! I think for many people out there who slavishly follow fashion and who have never had the confidence, or courage, to develop their own personal and unique style, this is such an opportunity. It’s an opportunity to side step the pressure of consumption that fashion lays at our doors. It’s an opportunity for brands to take their time to design and make sustainable, quality items and say goodbye to the sweatshop manufacturing we have all born witness to. It’s a whole new cycle of the fashion industry that I’m...

Top Places to Get Cash for Unwanted Clothes

I’ve been squirreling away cash for Christmas for a few months now. With a growing family (I became an Aunty again this year) and a lot more social gatherings on the horizon I thought I’d get prepared.  You know, because Christmas is less than 2 MONTHS AWAY. Just take a deep breath and remember, it is the day for spending time with loved ones, belting out every tune from Michael Buble’s Christmas album (don’t deny it) and oh I almost forgot … buying presents for literally everybody. Even the relatives you have met once many moons ago just to be sure that no one is offended. And it’s not just that – the food, drinks, decorations.   Let’s face it, this holiday can get expensive and so preparation is key. But how do you prepare? I have the answer to this conundrum … online marketplaces!   Here are my top 3 sites that will help you get the cash to splurge on Christmas goodies …   EBAY   PROS Huge potential market. There are over 200 million users = more potential sales when you list something.   Ease peasy to use. It is super easy to use, meaning less time wasted getting to grips with the selling process.   CONS Fees, fees, fees. EBay charge you 1% of your earnings from all auctions you advertise, plus PayPal fees and then there’s the returns – you have to pay for the postage on these. This doesn’t sound like much, but it does add up and can be unexpected. (I got a bill of £80 last month for selling!).  ...
The Wardrobe Angel’s first TV Show

The Wardrobe Angel’s first TV Show

I had a really exciting summer filming my first TV show – the stuff of dreams in fact – and the show is now LIVE and ON AIR! Can you tell I’m excited?! When I was 18 I told all my friends at an 18th birthday party that I wanted to be a TV presenter and now 17 years later my dream came true! The show is called Fashion House and was dreamt up and produced by the Made In Tyne & Wear network. It’s a behind the scenes look at the fashion industry talking to industry insiders and looking through their wardrobes. Pretty perfect for me, right?!   You can see the promo video by clicking here and you can watch the episodes on Catch Up now by clicking here. Two episodes have aired already and there’s one more next week. I’m so happy to share it with you and I’m really proud of my achievement! Love to know your thoughts! Would you watch another series? Til next time…stay wardrobe happy...
