Breaking the navy/black style “rule”

Breaking the navy/black style “rule”

Who wears a black suit with a navy top? Me. When I was an M&S graduate manager I turned up for work one day wearing a black suit with a navy top accessorised with white shoes (yes, I was branded the “creative” manager”). An older gentleman manager questioned me, pointing at my outfit saying “I thought you weren’t supposed to wear navy and black?” Well, I had an answer for him – says who? Getting to know The Wardrobe Angel

The Wardrobe Angel is 5 years old and to celebrate I’m doing a series of blog posts where you can get to know me, and my business, better. Enjoy! What staple items do you believe are a must have in a wardrobe? There are 2 investment pieces that I would recommend everyone purchase if you haven’t already! Cashmere – It’s easy to wash and doesn’t crease, and you know what this means … it doesn’t need ironing! Of course there are other benefits (although, need I convince you more?), it will keep you warm whilst looking seemingly opulent in the colder months. Leather jacket – A highly versatile piece that can be easily dressed up or down. They even look great underneath a winter coat to create the perfect layered ensemble! What makes you stand out from other personal stylists? I am the only person in the UK (and the world, as far as I know) who uses The Wardrobe Angel method of sorting and assessing the whole wardrobe with a triple pronged approach. During sessions I use image consultancy to tell you what suits you and your shape, I declutter wardrobes and I help you style your clothes into outfits in innovative ways without you needing to buy a new wardrobe (phew)! Which celebrity wardrobe would you secretly love to peek into? Jenna Lyons, the president and creative director of J. Crew. and Eva Chen, Instagram’s Head of Fashion Partnerships are 2 women that get the fashion inspo senses flowing. Both maintain a personal style, pushing the boundaries and add a splash of colour to bold layers, all the while...
